Intermediate Move
Intermediate move is a move that force your opponent to stop what he is doing.

Although black's bishops are under attack (double attack), black has an intermediate move here: Bxf3+. Since it's a check, white has to take this bishop, then black's dark square bishop just simply retreats and gets rid of the double attack

In this position, the f6 knight is under attack. However, there's no decent square for this knight to retreat, so instead black plays d5, attack white's bishop. This exchange favors black so white would either choose to retreat the bishop or take en passant. If white retreats the bishop, then black can play Ne4, a strong center knight.

Black is threatening to check mate white with both Nf2# and Qxh2#. However after Re8+, black is force to take it and no longer has Qxh2#. Then, white can take the black knight Bxg4 and save the game.
